PRAAPTI

About Us

PRAAPTI (Payment Ratification and Analysis in Power Procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of Generators) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Power (MoP), Government of India, designed to promote transparency, accountability, and financial discipline in the power sector. The portal is operated and maintained by PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Ltd., under the guidance of the Ministry.

PRAAPTI provides a centralized digital platform for capturing and publishing data related to the invoicing and payments made by Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) to power suppliers (i.e. Generation companies (GENCOs), Transmission Companies (TRANSCOs) and Electricity Trading Companies. It enables real-time monitoring of outstanding dues and payment status, supporting better financial oversight and timely settlements.

A critical function of PRAAPTI is to support the implementation of the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022. These rules were introduced to address chronic payment delays by DISCOMs, mandating structured payment timelines and surcharge mechanisms for delayed payments. PRAAPTI enables accurate tracking and reporting of compliance with the LPS Rules, empowering GENCOs, regulators, and policymakers to take timely action against defaults and enforce payment discipline.

By facilitating transparency and public accountability, PRAAPTI strengthens investor confidence, improves financial health across the electricity value chain, and contributes to a more efficient and sustainable power market in India.

Through PRAAPTI, the Ministry of Power aims to create a more efficient, transparent, and accountable electricity market in India.
